Ruling on Working In Al-Rajhi Bank
What is the ruling on working in the al-Rajhi Islamic Bank?.

Praise be to Allah.

It is permissible to work in any Islamic bank whose operations are governed by shariah. Dr Muhammad ibn Sa’ood al-‘Usaymi (may Allah preserve him) was asked: What are the banks in which it is permissible to work?

He replied: It is permissible to work in Islamic banks which operate according to the rules laid out by the shariah committee, such as al-Rajhi Bank and Bank al-Bilad.

It is permissible for the employee to work in that bank even if he thinks that some of its operations are not right, if it is permitted by the shariah committee of the bank.

It is permissible to work in banks that are moving over to Islamic banking such as al-Jazeerah and al-Ahli, provided they adhere to the conditions laid out by the shariah committee of that bank. As for working in a riba-based bank, that is not permissible even if the work is in a permissible area. And Allah knows best.

He was also asked: I was offered a job in the al-Rajhi bank in the Information Technology department, doing technical support and administrative work. Do you think there is any shar’i problem with working in the al-Rajhi Bank in this position?

He replied: There is nothing wrong with that. You have to read the conditions stated by the shariah committee and make sure that you and those around them adhere to these conditions. End quote from his site, al-Rabh al-Halal.

And Allah knows best.
